[Cafe/Korea/Daegu] No Wonder Coffee

Sometimes the best decisions are made on a whim, and that's exactly how I found No Wonder Coffee. I was strolling through Daebong-dong, just minding my own business, when I stumbled upon this little gem. I had nothing better to do, and that's when I decided to go check it out. Who would have thought that a place I walked into without any expectations would become a go-to spot for me?

The owner told me that the name No Wonder Coffee symbolizes their belief that coffee should be delicious. He learned to love coffee at Kim Wookjin Coffee Roasters in Busan and set up shop in Daebong-dong Cafe Street. Behind a covered tent, there are piles of beans that he has collected from all over the world. On his days off, he travels around in search of delicious beans, constantly moving forward. In a world where many people are fooled by familiarity and lose sight of the basics by melting into repetitive routines, people like this are quite rare.

For milk, I use a product that I haven't heard or seen anywhere. It's not everyday milk or Seoul milk; it's something I've never seen before. They asked me to try it, so I tasted it, and it had a subtle salty flavor. A latte is a shot, and a shot is a shot, but the milk is more important. This unique flavor makes the latte quite satisfying, and if you order a drip, they will refill your cup. The hand drip has a dramatic flavor change between hot and cold, and I love that I can enjoy it both ways.

I'm so excited to share the story of a beautiful building that I recently inherited. It used to be a perfume workshop, and the previous tenant left it in such a clean state that you can hardly see any traces of their work. The walls are all glass, which is perfect for this kind of weather, but I'm a little worried about how it will survive the summer. One of the things that makes this place so special is the love for fountain pens. There's a large table set up with fountain pens and a notebook that looks like a guest book. It's so lovely to see what guests have written or doodled. On one wall, fountain pens, ink, and figurines are displayed and sold.

On the days the cafe is open, the barista takes care of Monsil, who was abandoned by the building's owner, who keeps running out of the building. He is actually a cat butler, and he lives up to his name.

Everything is focused on the flavor of the coffee. While people may not visit cafes just for the taste of coffee these days, if you don't have the basics down, it can quickly fall apart. But if the basics are good — like the coffee tastes good — it won't fall apart, at least not quickly.
